Iran is ready to reinitiate nuclear talks with Washington on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat said solely negotiations produced results, and revealed recent overtures had come from intermediaries to resume discussions with the US government. He claimed Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran was not yet able to allow the global atomic watchdog to visit attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Walking a Challenging Route

The foreign minister is navigating a challenging course since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a stance of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger defensively and emotionally from the joint assault on its nuclear sites in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Previous Talks Suddenly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and hostile termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a two-week conflict that ended with the American leader asserting the sites had been eliminated. Following this, European countries exercised their privilege to restore international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with American involvement could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.
