The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
